Robert Asselin brings extensive experience in policy in academia and government, particularly around economic and fiscal issues. Mr. Asselin was Policy and Budget Director to Minister of Finance Bill Morneau from Nov. 2015 to Nov. 2017. Previous to that, he was Vice President, Policy and Research, at Canada 2020 and a senior advisor to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ahead of the 2015 federal election.
He also served as a Visiting Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. From 2007 to 2015, he was the Associate Director of the Graduate School of Public Policy and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa. He advised Prime Minister Paul Martin from 2004 to 2006 and Intergovernmental Affairs Ministers Stéphane Dion and Pierre Pettigrew from 2001 to 2004.
