Marcel Lauzière

President & CEO, The Lawson Foundation

Marcel has worked in the charitable sector, as well as in government, in Canada and abroad. He is currently the CEO of the Lawson Foundation. He has also been CEO of Imagine Canada, Deputy Chief Executive of the Ministry of Social Development in the New Zealand Government, President of the Canadian Council on Social Development, and Founding Executive Director of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences. 

Throughout his career he has been an advocate for good public policy as it relates to children and youth, to poverty and inequality, to the funding of social research and to philanthropy and the charitable sector. 

He has been an active volunteer sitting on a number of boards and advisory committees, including the International Council on Social Welfare, the Statistics Canada Advisory Committee on Social Conditions and the Accounting Standards Oversight Council. He currently sits on the boards of the Public Policy Forum (Chair, Finance and Audit) and YMCA Canada (Chair, Public Policy). He has received the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal for his work in philanthropy and the Governor General’s Cross for Meritorious Service

He lives with his wife in Cantley, Québec, but works out of Foundation House in Toronto.
