Board Chair, Alberta Innovates
Judy Fairburn is the Board Chair of Alberta Innovates, which funds, advises and provides testing and scale-up support for promising innovators across the clean energy, bio-industrial and health sectors. Judy also sits on the board of directors of Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), a Canadian federal entity that funds and coaches cleantech innovators as they move their ground-breaking technologies to market.
Recently retired as the EVP Safety and Chief Digital Officer of Cenovus Energy Inc. and trained as a Chemical Engineer, Judy is recognized as being at the forefront of collaborative innovation and digital change in Alberta’s resource industry. She was the co-founder and director of Evok Innovations, a $100 million private sector cleantech fund focused on accelerating the development and commercialization of solutions to environmental and economic challenges facing the oil and gas sector. She has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector with executive and senior leadership roles in digital, business innovation, corporate venture capital, joint ventures, portfolio management, environment, operations and technology development.
Judy is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and has been recognized as one of Canada’s Clean 16. She is also a member of Abundance 360 – a select group of entrepreneurs and senior executives focused on capitalizing on transformative digital change.
