About the Event

Please join us for our Public Policy Speakers’ Series, featuring Ilse Treurnicht, Vinod Rajasekaran and Imagine Canada’s Chief Economist, Brian Emmett.

While Canada has recently outperformed its G7 counterparts economically, innovation, productivity and competitiveness remain challenges, as does inclusive and sustainable growth. Meeting tomorrow’s innovation demands, now require us to rethink social policy and how we deliver good in society. While we need to help our social enterprises grow, it’s also time to scale thinking to the level of complex systems and address fundamental issues.

With the report of the Government of Canada’s Steering Group on Social Innovation and Social Financing imminent, we want to discuss the future of the charitable and non-profit sector with you, specifically:

  • The capacity challenge of community organizations and governments to pursue social innovation and social finance, including their ability to measure social outcomes and impact.
  • The opportunity for Canada’s social entrepreneurs to strengthen the purpose economy; leveraging social innovation, new collaboration models and market mechanisms.
