Break-On-Through: Communities and the New Economy

Canadian communities reliant on seasonal economies and employment like fishing or tourism can use local skills and knowledge to seize opportunities in the New Economy, according to this report by the Crossing Boundaries National Council. According to Break-on-Through: Communities and the New Economy - a "community-directed approach" to economic development could help communities who feel left out of the New Economy to participate more fully in it. Break-on-Through is the first publication from the Seasonal Employment and Seasonal Economies in the 21st Century Working Group, chaired by Wes MacAleer, MLA for Charlottetown-Spring Park, Government of PEI, and Richard Patten, MPP for Ottawa Centre and Parliamentary Assistant for Training, Colleges and Universities, Government of Ontario.
