A Vital National Institution: What a Cross-Section of Canadians Think about the Prospects for Canada's Public Service in the 21st Century

The National Roundtable Series is a key component of the Canada’s Public Service in the 21st Century project, a multi-year endeavour that culminated in a final report published in 2008. With 11 half-day sessions in seven cities from coast to coast—Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax—the roundtables allowed the Public Policy Forum to engage with a cross-section of Canadians representing a range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives about one of this country’s most important institutions.

This report summarizes key themes and messages from the roundtable series.
