Rethinking Political Parties

Today's political machines no longer have power of their predecessors to make policy, raise money and bring Canadians together. This discussion paper, prepared by PPF Vice President Graham Fox, explores the current state of political parties and the challenges before them, including the difficulty in defining the role of parties; the growing power of the leader over party affairs; the challenge of other emerging voices in policy debate; and, the impact of recent changes to party financing rules.
