The Future of Public Finance in Canada


Canada emerged from the recent global economic crisis in a better position relative to most other Western nations. Nevertheless, our country still faces significant financial challenges that can negatively impact how our economy and governments function.

On June 19, 2012, Canada's Public Policy Fourm, in partnership with the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada, convened senior leaders from the financial policy community to discuss the key dilemmas they face in trying to both contain public spending and drive economic growth.

Our summary report, The Future of Public Finance in Canada, outlines a series of challenges facing Canadian public finance and highlights where change may be needed, offering insight into how we might collectively respond to our country's most complex policy issues.
