About the Event

The Public Policy Forum (PPF) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Institute are organizing a private roundtable on digital transformation chaired by Olivia Neal, the Executive Director of Digital Change from the Chief Information Officer Branch at Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. This is the fourth part of a dialogue initiated at a roundtable of Deputy and Assistant Deputy Ministers held in Ottawa in 2017 on digital transformation and IT modernization, and two subsequent working groups on data strategy and workforce development in June 2018.

This roundtable of 25 will discuss creating a digital ready public sector by highlighting case studies, best practices, and challenges for creating innovative solutions using technology. The discussion will focus on creating a digital ready public sector, risk appetite in government for digital transformation, and the opportunities for good policy and enhanced data sharing between government and industry.

Specially featured on the agenda will be a preview of a report on digital leadership and gender equity for public servants by Dr. Wendy Cukier, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy and Founder of the Diversity Institute at Ryerson University. We will also discuss a (working) research paper focused on risk appetite and accountability in public service shared by Diana Del Bel Belluz, an expert working in complex organizations in the public and private sectors to identify, measure, and proactively manage enterprise and operational risk. The goal will be to pinpoint opportunities for good policy and develop insights on a proposed approach that furthers a strategy on putting data to work for Canadian business.

This event is by invitation only. For more information please contact Charlie Carter, Policy Lead at the Public Policy Forum.
