Louise Roy and Jacques Ménard receive new award in honour of Marcel Côté

OTTAWA May 7, 2015 — The Public Policy Forum is honouring the name and legacy of Marcel Côté with a new award for leadership. Louise Roy and Jacques Ménard were the first recipients of the award recognizing Quebec’s leaders for their lasting contributions to good governance and public policy.

“Marcel Côté was the personification of leadership and a bridge-builder between people and sectors,” says David Mitchell, President & CEO of the Public Policy Forum, where M. Côté was a former Board Chair. “Through this award, we aim to remind established and emerging leaders of the fundamental differences they can make in our society.”

Louise Roy is the Chancellor and President of the Board of the University of Montreal and Jacques Ménard is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of BMO Nesbitt Burns and President of BMO Financial Group, Quebec. Like Marcel Côté, they have both been tireless advocates for good governance. They also embody the values that were central to the life and career of this exceptional leader.

The award was presented on May 20, 2015 at the Foyer Allegro of the Maison symphonique on the occasion of a unifying evening organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal and the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Montreal.

In addition to the two Chambers, the presentation of the Marcel Côté Award is made possible with support from the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Deloitte, Ernst and Young and KPMG.

More information on the Marcel Côté Award is available on the Forum’s website.

The Public Policy Forum is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of government in Canada through enhanced dialogue among the public, private, academic and nonprofit sectors.
