Canada receives approximately 230,000 immigrants each year. These newcomers and their children are playing a growing role in our economy and communities. However, many newcomers are facing difficulties integrating into Canadian life. In 2006, the Public Policy Forum held a roundtable attended by leaders from all levels of government, academia, educational institutions, business, employers, immigrant-representing groups, and voluntary-sector organizations to build consensus and facilitate partnerships to address some challenges facing immigrants. This report summarizes the keynote presentations of each session.
