On March 6th, 2012, Canada’s Public Policy Forum and Library and Archives Canada (LAC) convened leaders from the private, public and non-profit sectors in Edmonton to explore how Canada’s memory institutions might best identify, preserve and share this country’s documentary heritage in a digital age. Roundtable participants were asked to explore key policy questions, including: what kinds of information and documents should memory institutions preserve? What tools might be used to share this documentary heritage with Canadians? And, should all information be made public? The Main Findings Report explores some of the key themes, case studies and issues that were discussed during the Halifax and Edmonton sessions that need to be examined further by senior leaders in all sectors.
