Le Forum des politiques publiques du Canada, en partenariat avec l'Association des produits forestiers du Canada (APFC), a tenu un séminaire sur L'avenir de la foresterie: des solutions durables. Notre objectif était d'impliquer les leaders de tous les secteurs pour discuter des responsabilités, de transparences et des méthodes environnementales utilisées par l'industrie canadienne des produits forestiers. La conférencière principale était Anne Giardini, chancelière de l'Université Simon Fraser et ancienne présidente de Weyerhaeuser Canada.

Anne Giardini (Biographie disponible seulement en anglais)

From 2008 to June 2014 Anne was the Canadian President of Weyerhaeuser, an international forest products company. Previously, she served for many years as Weyerhaeuser’s Canadian General Counsel.  She is currently serving as the 11th Chancellor of Simon Fraser University.

Anne is a current or past member of several boards including Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc., WWF-Canada, Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc., the Forest Products Association of Canada, Council of Forest Industries, the Alberta Forest Products Association, PEN Canada, the Vancouver Writers Festival, the Writers Trust of Canada, and the Board of Governors of Simon Fraser University. 

In 2014, Anne was recognized by WXN as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women, and by Vancouver Magazine as one of its Vancouver Power 50.  In 2013-14, she served on the Government of Canada’s Advisory Council for Promoting Women on Boards. In 2013, she received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and a Lexpert Zenith Award. In 2011, Anne received the Robert V. A. Jones Award recognizing leadership in corporate counsel practice and exceptional contributions to the Corporate Counsel bar or community and was named one of Canada’s 25 most influential lawyers.

A former columnist for the National Post, Anne is also the author of two novels, both published by HarperCollins. She is completing a third novel and editing a book of writing advice. She has been married for 27 years to Tony Giardini and they are the parents of three young adults.  She holds a BA from SFU (Economics), LLB from UBC, and LLM from Cambridge University (Trinity Hall).
