Never has leading organizations in the public sector been more challenging. In an increasingly complex managerial environment, executive development has to be about more than improving certain skills sets. This is why Canada’s Public Policy Forum has launched a new program to strengthen leadership capabilities of senior public service officials and to facilitate the exchange of experiences and best practices amongst them.

The Public Policy Forum has significant experience working with leaders from the federal, provincial, territorial and municipal levels of government. And we know that each organization has its own unique challenges and objectives. In partnership with your executive team, we design a customized curriculum that caters to the training and educational needs of your group, whether comprised of emerging or seasoned leaders.

Our Public Sector Executive Development Program is highly flexible and brings executive education to your doorstep. In-person sessions will be organized at your time and location of choice. Training can be delivered in a variety of formats, including:

  • Full or half-day hands-on sessions
  • Working dinners, with a keynote address
  • Strategic management and public policy discussions
  • Luncheon speakers, with interactive dialogue
  • Case study examinations and system thinking

The training is designed to raise participants to new levels of performance by:

  • Using leading edge concepts for thriving in a changing and complex public sector environment
  • Exploring effective leadership strategies
  • Developing key relationships for achieving goals
  • Successfully implementing winning strategies
  • Learning from private and public sector innovations and best practices

The program is also structured to challenge high-potential public sector leaders in improving both personal performance and enhancing organizational strategy by:

  • Inspiring and motivating high-performance work teams
  • Strengthening leadership skills and strategic thinking
  • Balancing strategy development with implementation - putting plans into action
  • Forming action plans to maximize strengths
  • Deepening the understanding of key organizational functions
  • Gaining organizational support at all levels
