Industry Roundtables on Indigenous Participation in Natural Resource Development

When: Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Where: Toronto

Despite the current downturn in commodity prices, hundreds of natural resource projects worth over $700 billion in investments are underway or being planned in Canada. However, questions remain about how resource development will be affected by the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and government commitments toward a renewed relationship with Indigenous peoples. This changing landscape presents a unique opportunity to explore strategies for enhancing Indigenous participation in the natural resource sector. In collaboration with Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, the Public Policy Forum is bringing together select industry representatives and senior federal officials to share perspectives on ensuring mutually-beneficial partnerships in mining and energy projects.
