Science Day in Canada
Event documents
When: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 (All day)
Where: Ottawa
Science and innovation strategies are at the core of the economic agendas of governments across Canada. In fact, the federal government and many provincial governments have made significant investments in innovation over the past decade.
In order to advance the dialogue around these issues, the Public Policy Forum convened a special one-day symposium, bringing together a cross-section of leaders from the research and policy-making communities in governments, industry universities and colleges.
Specifically, participants discussed:
-
The state of science in Canada; and
-
The role of science in contributing to Canada's economic recovery and global economic competitiveness
The Honourable Preston Manning delivered a lunchtime speech entitled "Stimulating an Ailing Economy: The Crucial Role of Science, Technology and Innovation".
