The Next Generation of Public Service Talent

When: Thursday, February 2, 2017 - Wednesday, February 8, 2017

Where: Edmonton, Halifax and Ottawa

Responsive governments require high-performing public services. Like most employers, however, public sector organizations face growing competition for talent and shifting attitudes about work. Given changing demographic and workplace trends, the Public Policy Forum has launched a national study to understand the forces that are shaping perceptions and expectations concerning public service careers.

As part of The Next Generation of Public Service Talent, we are conducting one-on-one interviews and convening roundtable discussions with students and young professionals, as well as talent development leaders working in government and post-secondary institutions. By engaging a broad range of perspectives across regions and jurisdictions, we hope to identify practical solutions for enhancing public service talent recruitment and retention in Canada.
