Inside Ottawa: New and Emerging Trends in the Federal Scene (Governing Canada Series)

When: Tuesday, December 4, 2007

Where: Ottawa

The Public Policy Forum brought the popular Governing Canada Series back to Ottawa with a one-and-a-half-day seminar that examined the Government’s priorities as laid out in the Speech from the Throne and Economic Update. Inside Ottawa:  New and Emerging Trends in the Federal Scene, brought together opinion leaders and senior officials from the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors to engage in honest, unfiltered dialogue about the government’s policy agenda and what it means for Canadians.

Topics such as the economy, federal-provincial relations, and foreign policy were addressed through a combination of keynote speakers, panel discussions, and a ‘Bear Pit’ session of media pundits. Discussion was held according to the Chatham House Rule—i.e. comments are not attributed to individuals—in order to encourage openness and the sharing of information.
