Climate Change, Trade and Competitiveness: Risks and Opportunities in a North American Perspective

When: Tuesday, June 3, 2008 - Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Where: Ottawa

In order to advance our collective understanding of the intersection of trade, competitiveness, and climate change policies in a North American context, the Public Policy Forum and the Canada Institute of the Woodrow Wilson Center organized an expert roundtable discussion in Ottawa. Specifically, participants discussed: the current state and future prospects of state, regional, and federal climate policy in the U.S. and Canada; examples of promising approaches—and obstacles—to effective collaboration across jurisdictions between Canada and the U.S.; trade and competitiveness implications of current and emerging climate policies going forward and private sector risk management strategies to cope.
