A Check-Up on Health Care Reform

When: Thursday, September 25, 2008

Where: Toronto

In 2008, with the appointment of a new health minister in Ontario, this conference considered the impacts of a number of key health care reform efforts.

The objective of the conference was to take a closer look at a few key health sector reengineering initiatives and consider the progress- nationally and provincially – of these initiatives and make recommendations on how these concepts could be improved upon. Representatives from the health sector, including heath professionals, heath related service businesses, patient advocacy groups, labour, government policy and regulatory administrators, college and universities (academic and administrators as well as some student reps) had a chance to discuss the state and impacts of the reengineering efforts.  Three panels on; regional health systems, results based funding, and electronic health records, served as springboards for discussions.
