Big Ideas: Scaling up System Transformation in Canadian Healthcare

On January 18 2017, the Public Policy Forum and the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa co-hosted a “big thinking” expert panel discussion on scaling up system transformation and innovation in healthcare with a focus on the role of the physician.

This moderated event included a presentation by Dr. Danielle Martin about the six big ideas in her upcoming book, Better Now. The panel included:

  • Emily Gruenwoldt, Director, Professional Affairs, Canadian Medical Association
  • Lindee David, Chief Executive Officer, Joule
  • Alex Munter, President and Chief Executive Officer, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO)
  • Chris Power, Chief Executive Officer, Canadian Patient Safety Institute

The panelists discussed how pockets of innovation and system transformation that already exist in Canadian healthcare can be scaled nationally. They also took questions from participants.
